Workshops.
Workshops: Taught individually and in groups,
include dance techniques, state of being, time, non-existence, visualizations,
metaphysical exercises, breathing techniques, and much more. Most
of these, like the physical training and manipulations, originate
from the concept “Japanese” butoh dance, combining traditional
techniques with European expressive dance.
Explore the tremendous energy in empty body, open eye, dead muscle,
no power, big force and contradictory energy/movement/imagination;
go beyond the immediate personality to uncover deeper archetypical
layers.
The last two months focus on performance work.
Performance is perceived as an opportunity to create rooms for the
audience to experience themselves in,
to become present in. The choreography is fleeting, like a path
in a dream, making one performance slightly different from the next,
bringing a distinct freshness and life to the stage. If a certain
image or character is desired to appear, it is reached with inner
pictures, manipulation of energy, imaginations and dance techniques.
The dancer is always in the process of being; energy, history, costume,
sound, light and set design coming together presenting a vast space
of possibilities.
